EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) or Tapping is a combination of the Chinese meridian energy system of acupuncture and modern psychology. It is a psychological acupressure technique that uses a simple tapping sequence on specific meridian points whilst thinking about your specific issue, trauma, pain or emotion. The principle of EFT is that the cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body’s energy system. If our energy is flowing normally, we feel great physically and emotionally. If our energy becomes blocked within the meridian system, unhelpful negative emotions and/or physical symptoms can develop. EFT works by clearing the blockages, rebalancing the body's energy system and changing the way the brain processes the information about the specific issue from a negative to a positive response.
The tapping technique requires you to focus on a pain, a negative emotion, a difficult memory or anything that is bothering you whilst tapping on meridian points.
