Counselling.

At Barefoot Coaching & Counselling, support is offered for individuals experiencing anxiety, stress, overwhelm, depression, or simply feeling disconnected from themselves and the life they want to live. Jo’s approach is grounded in compassion, positive psychology, and the belief that every person already holds strengths, resilience, and potential within them.

Rather than focusing on what is 'wrong,' Barefoot Coaching & Counselling focuses on understanding you as a whole person - your experiences, strengths, values, and capacity for growth. Jo believes that people do not need to be 'fixed.' Sometimes, we simply need support, guidance, and a safe, encouraging space to gain clarity, reconnect with ourselves, and move forward with greater confidence and self-awareness.

Through genuine connection and supportive counselling, clients are empowered to navigate challenges, build emotional resilience, and create meaningful and lasting change in their lives.

A Safe Place.

Sessions at Barefoot Coaching & Counselling are designed to provide a safe, supportive, and compassionate space for personal growth, healing, and self-discovery. Jo works alongside clients to help them build greater self-awareness, emotional resilience, and practical tools that can continue to support them long after each session.

Clients are encouraged to learn gentle and effective self-support techniques that can be integrated into everyday life to enhance wellbeing and personal development. Approaches used may include Positive Psychology, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), EFT, Mindfulness, and Mindful Self-Compassion, tailoured to each individual’s unique needs and journey.

Medicare rebates may be available for eligible clients who have been referred by their GP under a Mental Health Care Plan. Private health insurance rebates may also apply depending on your level of cover.

What to Expect in a Session.

The first session is an opportunity for Jo to get to know you, understand what you are seeking support with, and explore what you would like from your work together. During this time, you will also begin identifying goals and creating a plan that feels supportive and aligned for you. Appointments are available face-to-face, via Zoom, or by phone, depending on what best suits your needs. Sessions run for 55 minutes, and throughout your time together, practical strategies may be explored to support you between appointments.

You are welcome to contact Jo by phone or email if you need clarification or further support. Jo is generally available between 9 am and 5 pm, Monday to Thursday.

The Finer Details.

Counselling sessions are $220. With a GP referral under a Mental Health Care Plan, you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate of $98.95, which is processed by Jo after your session. Private health rebates vary depending on your insurer, and a receipt will be emailed following your appointment to support your claim.

Coaching sessions are $220. These sessions are not eligible for Medicare rebates; however, business coaching may be tax-deductible if it relates to your business.

Payment can be made via EFTPOS, bank transfer, or cash.

Please provide at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to change or cancel an appointment. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice may incur a 50% fee. Non-attendance is charged at the full session.
